Traco GFX | Release Notes

This document describes changes, new features, improvements, and bug fixes for the Traco GFX application and related Traco MediaDistributor components.

We recommend reviewing these release notes thoroughly before installing or upgrading the software.

Version 2025.10.0

Changes and New Features

  • MediaCentral Cloud UX v2025.10 Compatibility
    • Full support for MediaCentral Cloud UX v2025.10, ensuring seamless integration with the matching platform version and its latest features.
  • Expanded Viz Graphics Vendor Support
    • Traco GFX now supports the 'pilotmos' graphics vendor identifier in addition to the existing 'ShowEdge.VizPilotEdge'. This extends compatibility with different Viz graphics system configurations, allowing you to work with a wider range of Viz setups.

Important Changes

  • ⚠️ Dropped Support: Viz Pilot News (ActiveX)
    • Support for Viz Pilot News using ActiveX elements (VCPAxFiller.VCPTemplateFiller) has been removed. If you are using ActiveX-based Viz Pilot News integration, you must migrate to Viz Pilot Edge before upgrading to this version.

Fixed

  • Distribution job submission now works correctly with the updated database schema, resolving issues where jobs failed to submit due to validation errors.

Version 2024.10.3

Changes and New Features

  • OK and Apply Buttons for Chyron GFX Editing
    • When editing GFX elements in Chyron, you can now use OK and Apply buttons to confirm changes. The Apply button saves changes, replaces the current element in the iNews story and timeline, and automatically updates the preview—all without closing the editor and without requiring drag & drop, streamlining your workflow.

Fixed

  • The default GFX duration setting is now correctly applied when set to 0 seconds.
  • Cancelling a job in WAITING state no longer causes the application to crash.

Version 2024.10.2

Changes and New Features

  • OK and Apply Buttons for Viz GFX Editing
    • When editing GFX elements in Viz, you can now use OK and Apply buttons to confirm changes. The Apply button saves changes, replaces the current element in the iNews story and timeline, and automatically updates the preview—all without closing the editor and without requiring drag & drop, improving editing efficiency.
  • Job Duplication Prevention
    • The system now detects when you attempt to submit a distribution job for an asset that already has a job in progress, even with a different profile. The new job will be placed in a waiting state until the current job completes, preventing conflicts and ensuring jobs are processed in order.
  • iNews Metadata Distribution
    • Metadata from iNews stories can now be included in sidecar files during distribution workflows, preserving important story information alongside distributed media.
  • Custom Distribution Filename Patterns
    • Administrators can define custom naming patterns for distributed files, providing greater flexibility in file organization and management.
  • Viz GFX Variant Override
    • Administrators can configure a list of available Viz GFX variants for specific distribution profiles. When submitting a distribution job, users can optionally select a variant from this list. If the graphics elements in the job support the selected variant, the distribution will render the output using that variant while leaving the original GFX element's variant unchanged.

Fixed

  • Distribution jobs no longer fail when output filenames contain characters that are invalid on Windows systems (such as semicolons).
  • The Masters of Jobs list in settings is now scrollable when the list extends beyond the visible area.

Version 2024.10.0

Changes and New Features

  • Cloud UX v2024.10 Compatibility
    • Full support for Cloud UX v2024.10, ensuring seamless integration with the latest platform features and updates.
  • Simplified Licensing Model
    • Traco now uses a Device ID-based licensing model. Important: The Traco ACS v1 Windows service is no longer required and should be removed during upgrade.
  • Improved License Error Handling
    • License validation errors now appear only when opening the Traco GFX app, rather than immediately at login, reducing interruptions to your workflow.
  • Audio Channel Configuration for Traco Encoders
    • Traco Encoders now support configurable audio channel settings, including stereo and surround 5.1 formats, giving you greater control over audio output.
  • Enhanced Interplay Web Services Integration
    • Interplay Web Services communication is now routed through Traco ACS v2, improving reliability and performance of Interplay operations.

Fixed

  • Traco MediaRenderer management now correctly displays all MediaRenderer instances, including those not configured with Viz Engine.
  • The Save button in settings is now always visible, even on smaller monitor resolutions.

Version 2024.3.0

Changes and New Features

  • User-initiated GFX segment re-rendering
    • After double-clicking a GFX segment in the Sequence Timeline, users can now click a Re-render button in Traco GFX. This deletes all rendered images related to that GFX segment from the NEXIS workspace and re-renders them. Note: This action does not automatically reload the asset in the player; newly rendered graphics will not be instantly displayed.
  • TIMED or MANUAL values for <itemTrigger> MOS property
    • The <itemTrigger> MOS property in GFX objects now supports TIMED or MANUAL values. Previously, this property was not included in GFX objects created by Traco GFX.
  • GFX image housekeeping managed by Traco ACS Renderer
    • GFX image housekeeping is now managed by the Traco ACS Renderer pod on Cloud UX. The Windows service "Traco Housekeeper" is no longer required and should not be used.
  • Duration adjustment in GFX Direct distribution
    • When submitting a GFX Direct distribution job, the duration can now be changed directly on the Asset Distribution page.

    • The "Open in" context menu on Newsroom Management stories now allows opening the story’s linked sequence in Traco MediaDistributor.
  • Improved error messages
    • Enhanced error messages for failed jobs in Traco MediaDistributor.
  • XAVC support
    • Added support for XAVC in Traco Encoder.
  • Traco MediaRenderer communication update
    • Traco MediaRenderer no longer requires the Viz Engine’s REST Web Service port. All communication with the Viz Engine now occurs via the Engine’s General Communication Port (default: 6100).
  • Disk space estimation
    • Traco MediaRenderer now estimates required disk space before graphics rendering and burning to prevent errors and server crashes due to insufficient space, particularly with long graphics.
  • Traco Licensing
    • The Traco license is now applied as a license string in the Cloud UX Admin UI. The Traco ACS Windows service is no longer used for license management.

Fixed

  • GFX Direct distribution jobs with 0-second duration can now be submitted successfully.
  • Asset frame rate (FPS) parsing issues in Cloud UX v2024.2.0 that caused MediaDistributor job failures have been resolved.
  • Web services proxy operations in Traco ACS v1 now work correctly in all supported configurations.

Version 2023.7.0

Changes and New Features

  • Tracks Mapper Tool
    • Administrators can now predefine GFX tracks for the Cloud UX timeline. Templates can be mapped to specific tracks, ensuring all elements created from a template are assigned to the corresponding GFX track.
    • This feature replaces the "Viz transition logic layers order" setting.
  • GFX Direct Distribution
    • Introduced the GFX distribution profile type (in addition to PAM video and the experimental NM Rundown), allowing Drag & Drop of Viz graphics from Traco GFX to the Traco MediaDistributor Asset Distribution page.
    • Submitting a job with the GFX profile type creates a video clip from the GFX object with the specified duration. This enables users to render full-frame graphics as separate video files, re-ingest them to PAM as regular master clips, or send them to any distribution target.
  • Traco AI Tab Removal
    • The "Traco AI" tab in the Asset Inspector, present in older versions, has been removed. Traco AI is now available as a standalone feature pack.
  • Timing Information in mosAbstract
    • A new setting enables the display of timing information in the mosAbstract for all timed GFX elements (e.g., IN: 00:07 DUR: 00:10 | Traco/ Demo), allowing users to view timing directly from the iNews story.
  • Default GFX Duration Setting
    • Sets the default duration for GFX elements when added to a story or sequence.
  • Untimed GFX Object Creation
    • Holding the Alt key while dragging and dropping a GFX object will now always create an untimed GFX object in the Newsroom Management story.
  • Enhanced Error Messages
    • Improved error messages during Traco MediaDistributor job monitoring.
  • Job Statistics
    • Traco MediaDistributor job statistics added to the Admin UI.
  • New Encoder Support
    • Added support for XDCAM HD 50 4:2:2 in Traco Encoder.
